An Espresso Martini lives or dies by its coffee, and Tip Top Proper Cocktails built this one with Counter Culture Coffee around Big Trouble, one of the roaster's best-selling blends, a medium-dark roast with notes of caramel and nuts. Kimball House bartender Miles Macquarrie, who helped develop the brand's classic recipes, spent many months on the formula alongside the roaster's coffee specialists, and the ingredient list is short: vodka, that espresso, and vanilla, fully mixed and packed into a 100ml can at 22 percent ABV. Roasted coffee leads with vanilla bean in support, and the whole thing drinks strong, rich, and smooth. Tip it into a shaker with ice, shake hard, pour into a cocktail glass, and the after-dinner drink is spoken for.
