The Glenturret Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskey 2024 Release Triple Wood

The Glenturret has been making whisky on the banks of the River Turret at Crieff since 1763, which underwrites its claim to be Scotland's oldest working distillery, and the Triple Wood is the annual release that shows the house at its most approachable. The 2024 edition marries European oak and American oak sherry-seasoned casks with bourbon barrels, bottled at 44 percent. Sherry wood leads the nose, raisins and sultanas over deep toffee and creamy vanilla with cinnamon and nutmeg, while the bourbon barrels slip in honey and a wisp of oak spice. The palate is soft, full, and creamy: caramel and honey with roasted nuts, citrus, and a touch of milk chocolate. The finish runs long on gentle spice, toffee, and dried fruit, with all three woods still legible at the end.
