Cayeya Blanco Tequila

This bottle started life as Mexican Coca-Cola: Cayéya's glass is handmade from recycled Coke bottles at a family-owned workshop in Jalisco, and the cork, hang tag, and label are recycled as well. The tequila is made at Destiladora Agave Azul (NOM 1424) in San Juanito de Escobedo, within Jalisco's Ruta del Tequila, where master distiller Zandra Gómez Santiago leads production. The 100 percent blue Weber agave is cooked in masonry ovens and distilled twice, then bottled unaged at 80 proof. Cooked agave and bright citrus lead, with a light touch of sweetness and a peppery finish. Clean enough to sip neat, and a serious upgrade for a margarita.
