Cristiana Tiberio makes the wines at the estate her father Riccardo founded in 2000 near the hill town of Cugnoli, and since 2011 she has been solely responsible for every one of them. A chemistry graduate who trained in Champagne and Australia, she also teaches college sommelier and enology classes and represents the estate around the world. Her brother Antonio runs the vineyards, dry-farming the family's own massal selections of native varieties without herbicides or pesticides. Their Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo is 100 percent Montepulciano from a south-facing parcel Riccardo planted the year he founded the estate, on limestone at 350 meters. The grapes are hand harvested in mid-September and destemmed, then given no skin maceration and no pressing: only the free-run juice makes it into the wine. It ferments on indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, skips malolactic fermentation, and goes to bottle unfined and unfiltered. The 2025 is a clear magenta-red, with red cherry, small red berries, and pomegranate, a crisp, bright palate, and a clean, floral finish. Chill it and pour it with arrosticini, Abruzzo's grilled lamb skewers, or anything else coming off the grill, any month of the year.
