Friã Friõ is a partnership between Jocelyn Brent, Lisa Rankin, and Portuguese winemaker Joana Santiago, and the rosé brings together two native grapes, Espadeiro and Touriga Nacional, grown on granite in Sousa, in the south of Vinho Verde, under steady Atlantic influence. The fruit is picked by hand in the early morning into small 20-kilo crates, reaches the winery within ten minutes, and ferments in stainless steel under temperature control. The 2025 is pale pink and medium-dry at 10.5% alcohol, with wild strawberry up front, red currant and a twist of citrus behind it, and a brisk freshness and faint spritz that keep the touch of sweetness light on its feet. Pour it with olives and salty snacks, and plan on a second bottle.
