Jakot is Tokaj spelled backwards, Radikon's reply to the European rule that reserves the Tokaj name for Hungary, and the grape inside is Friulano, the variety Friuli long called Tocai. The family farms organically on the shale and clay of Oslavia. The fruit ferments with native yeasts and spends two to three months on its skins, then about three years in large Slavonian casks and a year or two in bottle, unfiltered and with no sulfur added. The liter bottle dates to 2002, built around a narrower cork that Stanko Radikon believed let the wine age better. The 2018 is a deep golden amber, with dried apricot and yellow peach, a savory grip of tannin and Friulano's telltale almond bite on the finish. Stanko thought a 750ml was the wrong amount for two people at dinner; share this liter over a long meal and you'll see what he meant.
