Oddero Barbera d'Alba Superiore 2024

Poderi Oddero has been family-run in La Morra since 1878, one of the historic houses of Barolo, and its Barbera Superiore is farmed and raised with cru-level attention. The fruit comes from two mature hillside parcels: a south-facing site in Castiglione Falletto at roughly 250 meters and a southwest-facing site in La Morra slightly higher up, both picked by hand late in September. Fermentation and a fifteen-day maceration in stainless steel precede a split élevage, part in 50-hectoliter oak casks and part in neutral barrels, with the final blend assembled in spring; production runs around ten thousand bottles. Cherry and blackberry lead over black pepper and a mineral edge, the tannins soft, the acidity fresh and long. Barbera with the polish of a Barolo house.
