Isabelle and Pierre Clément, working alongside their children Anne and Pierre-Alexandre, carry on a family line of Menetou-Salon growers that dates to 1560. In 2020 the family bought the Domaine du Clos Saint Martin in Sancerre, a vineyard in decline, and set about clearing and replanting it. The vines grow near the hamlet of Amigny on slopes of 40 to 45 percent, mostly in caillottes, small, hard stones of Upper Jurassic limestone. The estate is certified organic, and the Sauvignon Blanc is hand-picked, fermented with native yeasts, and raised on its fine lees in stainless steel. Nectarine, grapefruit, and lemon ride over a flinty, saline core, with plenty of tension and a long finish. The clos first turns up in the records in 1650, as property of the Priory of Saint Martin, and the 2025 is only the family's third harvest there.
