The everyday wine of a great house. Comm. G.B. Burlotto, royal supplier to the House of Savoy in the nineteenth century and now one of Barolo's most sought-after cellars, grows this Barbera on the calcareous Sant'Agata and Cassano Spinola marls of Verduno and Roddi. Fabio Alessandria treats it with the same hand as the Barolos: hand-harvested into small boxes, destemmed, and fermented in open French oak vats and stainless steel with gentle daily punch-downs and pump-overs, then rested in large oak and bottled the summer after harvest to keep it fresh. The 2024, from a cool, even season, sets dense dark fruit against vivid acidity, with fine tannins and a linear, persistent finish. The house describes it as a wine meant to accompany the table without pretension, and that is exactly how it drinks. Serious lineage, weeknight disposition.
