Domaine des Carlines Poulsard Cotes du Jura 2024

Domaine des Carlines is the small Jura project Patrick Ligeron spent years dreaming of, an eleven-hectare estate he took over with his wife Sophie in 2015 in the village of Ménétru-le-Vignoble, three hectares of it sitting inside the celebrated Château-Chalon appellation. Farmed sustainably and moving toward organic, this is 100% Poulsard, the pale, delicate red grape that is a Jura signature, from vines rooted in grey marl and deep clay across two parcels. The winemaking is gentle and hands-off: hand-destemmed fruit, a cold ten-day maceration, natural fermentation with a single daily pump-over, then eight months in well-seasoned 500-litre casks and three more in tank, bottled without fining or filtration. The color is a light, luminous ruby; the nose is all bright raspberry and crushed red fruit, and the palate is fresh and supple, with fine, gentle tannins and a long, juicy, eminently drinkable close.
