Enotria takes its name from Oenotria, the land Virgil's Aeneid describes as ancient and rich in soil, worked by the Oenotri before it was called Italy. Founded in Cirò Marina in 1974, the winery farms 30 hectares in three districts running from the hills to the Ionian shore, on clay-rich loam where native grapes thrive. The Cirò Bianco is one of the house's Identitari, its classic DOC bottlings, dressed in a black motif inspired by the patterns on ancient Oenotrian pottery. All Greco Bianco, it is picked by hand in late August, fermented under temperature control and aged in stainless steel. Citrus and honeysuckle lead, with white flowers and a note of beeswax on a medium-bodied palate. Enotria has always aimed to make wine for everyone, so chill it hard, put out a bowl of seafood pasta, and take the winery at its word.
