The name Monlia comes from the Piemontese dialect name of the town of Monleale where the vineyards are located. "Derthona" is the historical Latin name for the city of Tortona, which producers in the Colli Tortonesi area use to denote their premium Timorasso. Known for a heady nose of petrol, yellow flowers, apricots, and chamomile. The palate offers zesty lemon zest, bitter orange marmalade, and distinct crushed chalk minerality. The wine is medium to full-bodied, high in acidity, and silky, often drawing comparisons to a rich white Burgundy - and while fresh and lively in its youth, it can age beautifully for a decade or more
