Envinate 'Palo Blanco', Canary Islands, Spain 2023

From the volcanic slopes of Tenerife's Orotava Valley, 'Palo Blanco' is a pure expression of Listán Blanco, sourced from a 1.5-hectare vineyard at 600 meters elevation. The centenarian vines thrive in soils rich in phosphorus, magnesium, and potassium, imparting distinctive mineral characteristics to the wine. Hand-harvested grapes are whole-cluster pressed into large concrete tanks, fermented without malolactic conversion, and aged for 10 months in 2,500L oval foudres. Bottled without fining or filtration, this wine offers aromas of wet slate, green pear, sour plum, and spicy lemon. On the palate, it is ample and lively, with saline and citrus notes leading to a long, elegantly salty finish.
