Few domaines anywhere can match the lineage: the Carillon family has tended vines in Puligny-Montrachet for five centuries, and Jacques Carillon, one of the two brothers who divided the storied Domaine Louis Carillon in 2010, carries it forward on 5.5 hectares centered on the village. This bottling gathers eleven parcels scattered over seven sites, their vines averaging four decades old, farmed without herbicides and picked by hand. Fermentation happens in barrel with new oak held to roughly 15 percent, followed by a year on the lees and six quiet months in stainless steel. Where the taut 2022 asks for patience, the 2023 is the more open vintage: a ripe, sun-filled year that gave the Côte de Beaune whites flesh and texture, wearing Carillon's chalky reserve with earlier charm. Puligny of quiet authority, approachable young.
