Domaine de Saint Pierre Arbois Les Dalles 2020

Fabrice Dodane has owned Domaine de Saint Pierre outright since 2011, working about six hectares spread across the Arbois villages of Vadans, Mathenay, Arbois, and Pupillin from his cellar in Mathenay. The farming is organic and the cellar work is bare: no fining, no filtration, no added sulfur. Les Dalles is his Chardonnay from limestone and white marl soils, planted to Melon à Queue Rouge, the old red-stemmed strain of Chardonnay the Jura has quietly kept alive. The 2020 lands at a measured 12.9 percent, ripe fruit set against a saline, chalky spine with a quiet thread of spice. Arbois Chardonnay that tastes of its limestone first.
