Prisma Valle de Casablanca Chile Pinot Noir 2024

Prisma is a joint project between the importer Brazos and Grupo Belén, created to show what Chile's coastal Casablanca Valley can do, and the estate includes some of the valley's original plantings, put in by Pablo Morandé in 1982. This Pinot Noir comes from a single 14 acre vineyard, Fundo Belén, planted in 2004 at about 600 feet on clay and granitic soils in the Lo Ovalle sector, where fog and wide swings between warm days and cool nights keep the fruit fresh. Hand-harvested from certified sustainable vines, the grapes are cold soaked in stainless steel, fermented in oak, and aged eight months in French barrels of several sizes. Fresh strawberry and red cherry carry the palate, framed by a subtle note of oak, with a lift through the middle and a silky finish. Honest cool-climate Pinot Noir at an everyday price.
