Paolo Scavino Barolo Monvigliero 2020

A Barolo of refinement and depth which captures the essence of Monvigliero, a grand cru in Verduno. Limestone-rich soils impart a signature finesse, evident in the wine’s intricate nose—wild strawberries, sour cherries, and juicy plums mingle with dried herbs, crushed stones, and delicate florals. Beneath the bright aromatics, deeper notes of licorice, tobacco, and earthy truffle emerge, leading to a sophisticated, savory finish with balsamic and spice-laced depth. The 2020 vintage was marked by a balanced growing season with moderate temperatures (despite a warm summer) and well-timed rainfall, yielded wines with relatively softer tannins but a great amount of concentration. So, it’s no surprise that this Monvigliero is drinking phenomenally well now.
