Fondo Antico Nene Nero D'Avola 2020

The “Nene” Nero d’Avola from Sicily astonishes with vibrant flavors: lush red cherry, orange peel and spice with hints of smoke, as well as salinity on the finish from limestone soils and the vineyard’s proximity to the ocean. Soft tannins and freshness make this a perfect pairing for a range of dishes from red sauce pasta to tonno con cipolle in agrodolce, a traditional Sicilian dish of roasted tuna with onions and mint.

The Polizzotti-Scuderi family has owned and farmed the estate since the early 1800s and have been growing grapes since 1920. Blending deep familiarity of the land with cutting-edge production methods, the winery has blossomed into a beacon of viticulture. The estate spans 80 hectares, idyllically framed by prickly pears, olive trees, and lemon groves, creating a picturesque and bountiful landscape.
