Domaine Lafage 'La Retro' Vin de France 2021

La Rétro is Famille Lafage's homage to the easygoing Roussillon reds of their parents' generation, made at the family estate outside Perpignan from Carignan, Lladoner, Grenache Noir, and Grenache Gris picked in early October from parcels across the region. The winemaking is deliberately old-fashioned: whole bunches lightly crushed, a short maceration, extraction kept feather-light to protect the fruit. Light in color and in spirit, it opens on a gently spicy nose, then delivers fresh red fruit, roundness, and balance, all in an old-style bottle that states the intent plainly. Wine for the table, not the cellar.
