Domaine du Colombier Crozes-Hermitage Rouge 2021

Winemaker Florent Viale’s Crozes-Hermitage is made from 35-year-old Syrah vines rooted in granite, clay, and limestone in Mercurol and Tain. A portion of whole clusters and aging in both concrete and barrel bring clarity and depth. Aromas of raspberry, violet, and crushed black pepper lead into flavors of dark cherry, plum skin, and subtle spice. Feathery tannins and a touch of dried herbs linger on the finish. A true under-the-radar find.
