Jacques Carillon Puligny-Montrachet 2022

The Carillon name has been attached to Puligny-Montrachet since 1520, when documents first record Jehan Carillon working vines here. Jacques Carillon, who ran the famed Domaine Louis Carillon alongside his brother until the estate was divided in 2010, now farms 5.5 hectares under his own label, nearly all of it within the appellation. His village cuvée assembles eleven small parcels across seven sites, with vines averaging four decades of age; the fruit is pressed gently, fermented in barrel with a modest share of new oak, aged a year on its lees, and settled six months in stainless steel before bottling. The style is Puligny at its most classical: focused, understated, mineral to the bone. The 2022 comes from a Côte de Beaune vintage of rare harmony, its ripe generosity cut by a fresh, mouthwatering line. Built to reward a few years of patience.
