Envinate 'Benje' Tinto, Canary Islands, Spain 2023

Grown on the edge of a volcano at nearly 1,000 meters above sea level, 'Benje' Tinto is a Canary Islands red like no other. This vintage—mostly Listán Negro with a little help from other native grapes—comes from ancient, ungrafted vines rooted in pure volcanic rock. It's wild and lifted, with notes of smoky red cherry, dried herbs, and crushed black pepper, wrapped in a whisper of island salinity. Light on its feet but full of personality, it hums with energy and grit. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in old French oak, unfiltered and unfined, this is mountain wine with soul—raw, elemental, and impossible to replicate.
