This Cuvée Prestige is pure Chardonnay from mature vines on clay-limestone soils in Mâcon-La Roche-Vineuse, at about 280 meters; the Chênes plow their vineyards and keep yields low. The cellar work is traditional, with native yeasts and a mix of older barrels and stainless steel for fermentation and aging. White peach and citrus peel lead, with a wisp of smoke and plenty of floral lift, and the finish is juicy with a firm, stony grip.
