Raspberry, red cherry, and cranberry come first, with blood orange, mint, and chalk behind them; supple and textured, it rides bright acidity to a long finish with a salty tang. A stony core carries candied citrus, spice, and wildflowers; the palate is rich and full, dense in texture yet lively, with very soft bubbles and a long, briny finish. The Brut Réserve, the house's flagship and by far its largest cuvée, draws Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier in close to equal measure from Ludes, Ormes, and Trépail on the Montagne de Reims and from Mareuil-le-Port and the Grand Cru village of Aÿ in the Vallée de la Marne. Most of it is fermented in barrel, kept from malolactic fermentation to hold its freshness, and blended with a generous share of reserve wine. This release is built on the 2023 harvest. Lemon confit, yellow apple, and apricot open onto a biscuity depth and a hint of marzipan, and the creamy, ample palate carries a delicate salinity into a long finish marked by chalk.
